AN AFFAIR IS BREWING
“There are two things that make any private function
at Legends stand out,” says Adam Hawkins, General
Manager at the brewing company/restaurant, located in
the Manchester District of South Richmond. “...beer and
atmosphere.”
You probably know about the beer. Legends is the
area’s oldest and largest microbrewery. Since 1994 the
folks at Legends have been producing and supplying premium
beers to some of the area’s finest restaurants.
Now, as for the atmosphere...well, as Hawkins says,
it’s fun. “There’s plenty of room for parties of 20 to 150
people, and you also get a great view.” Indeed you do,
perhaps one of the best views of the city’s skyline is right
out the window.
Legends offers a variety of party platters featuring a host
of great munchies, from their famous jumbo chicken wings
to sausage and cheese trays or peel and eat shrimp...I
could go on and on. And, of course, there’s beer.
When you want a private function with the feature
on fun, food, and, oh yes, beer, let Legends Brewing
Company host your next affair. 317 W. 7th Street;

THAI One On
Did you know that Richmond’s favorite Thai restaurant,
Mom’s Siam Authentic Thai, offers an upstairs private
dining area that can be reserved for parties of up to 50
persons? Excellent, authentic Thai food, gracious service
in a warm, intimate setting, and all right in the heart
of Carytown. What more could one desire? Order
from the menu or let “Mom” and her family prepare
something special just for you. 2811 W. Cary Street;

A fiesta affair
Mexican food is tasty, filling, and generally a great idea
when the budget is somewhat limited. Having grown up
in her family’s popular local Mexican restaurants, Rosio
Garcia, owner of Little Mexico, has the expertise to
provide you with the perfect menu for your small (30
persons or less) gathering.
And, in the warmer months, you can take it outside,
with a private patio on which to host your special gathering. From business lunches to rehearsal dinners, Little
Mexico provides a festive alternative for your next private
function. 1328 W. Cary Street; 804.525.4216; www.littlemexicova.com

For impeccable service in a spectacular setting, no one
does it better than Celebrations at the Reservoir, located
in Chesterfield County, just minutes from Powhite and
Route 288. Celebrations offers five different wedding
sites and three separate areas for your reception.
Whether you’re planning a lavish ceremony, or a
simple picnic, Celebrations does it all...to perfection.
The 125-acre waterfront complex makes for an unforgettable

An intimate affair
Dark wood, a fireplace, beautiful wine racks ...all of
these accoutrements add to the intimate feel of the two
banquet rooms at Buckhead’s Restaurant and Chop
House. Even though one can host up to 50 persons in
the larger of the two rooms, “You still have that intimate
feeling,” says Heather Mitchell, the private dining director
at the stately West End restaurant.
And, she tells us, every function is completely customized
to fit the specific needs of the party. “Each menu is
tailored to the individual.”
The smaller of the two rooms, the “Downtown Room”
offers total privacy, wine-oriented artwork, and beautiful
wine racks. The “Uptown Room” features a fireplace and
a large window. With special arrangements, larger parties
can be accommodated at the restaurant. 8510 Patterson
Avenue; 804.750.2000; www.buckheads.com.
functions with flexibiity
“We’re very flexible when it comes to planning your
private party,” says Amy Hardin, general manager at
Lulu’s, in the Bottom. Hardin says that she’ll gladly work
with you to put together just what you may wish. “You
can order from the menu, or we can customize something
for you,” she says.
Indeed, many who have their parties at Lulu’s simply
order from the menu, based on their budget. Others,
however, prefer heavy hors d’oeuvres, in which case,
Hardin says you can select from a variety of off-the-menu
delicacies such as shrimp cocktail, puff pastries, and the
like.
While there is no private banquet room, the entire
restaurant can be reserved for special functions for up to
100 persons. “Because we’re so open,” says Hardin, you
can see everyone on your group regardless of whether
you’re sitting at the same table.” 21 N. 17th Street;
